Busy Cuzzie

On my way to Opah's

It has been a long holiday for the Malaysians; started on Thursday merdeka, Eid Adha on Friday, the weekend Saturday and Sunday, and a Monday off as a reward for our athlete's outstanding performance in SEA Games #perksofbeingMalaysians #peoplefromothercountriesmustbejealous. My family spent two days in our Kg Gajah hometown, and a night at Mak Teh's home in Manjung before we went back to Kg Gajah again. It was Saturday evening, my family was on our way to Opah's house from Manjung. This time around, the vibe felt different because I had a splendid morning that day.

My Saturday morning was productively enjoyed with my cousins. Actually, we did nothing special; we typically walked around most of the malls in Manjung lol. I ain't kidding, we wandered through Tesco, Giant and Aeon. We bought tidbits and had fun catching up with each other's life update while munching the pretzel from Auntie Anne.

I love the serenity of a long drive (but definitely not when I'm the driver lol #backacheproblem). I am able to enjoy the scenery outside of a window, cherishing the blue sky, fluffy clouds and birds flying high. It's a +1 when sunset or drizzles comes along. And when you combine the weather and memories, it is just heartwarming. I was looking at the grey sky, turning darker every minute as it almost Maghrib. My cousins' face appeared one by one floating in the sky slide show. My emotions ran wild through my blood. These faces are going to get married later, they'll have a husband/wife, children to prioritise and we cannot go lepak and laugh like a mad person like we always do. Ok lah fine... maybe we can still go lepak but it would not be the same. Aaaaaa I hate growing up.

Abang Sham just graduated and got that PhD and currently working as a full-time lecturer in UPSI (omg aren't you the same person who watched power rangers with me?) Kak Ana is now working 24/7 (even during the weekend too sometimes!) in the lab. Kak Ain and Tikah just started working and they are doing so well. And during the raya night, Ati was busy balancing an account belongs to the playschool she's working with... I think she deserves a raise.  While Adib, Mar and I are now pursuing our passion (read: dying in accomplishing our degree studies) and let's pray that we'll survive with flying colour.

I feel so emotional to digest the fact that we all are grown ups. I remember vividly that we all used to be naked and mandi kolah together and filled it with bubbles of soap. It was like a pool party but kampung version lol. We were scolded by opah and our moms later hahaha good times :') There was this one phase when I was a fan of akademi fantasia (I guess most of us were huh?).  So we gathered in one of the rooms and did the roleplay of AF's audition. My songs to go are nasyid range lol and we took turns to act as savage judges;Kudsia Kahar, Adlin Aman Ramli. Someone will also volunteer to imitate Aznil the MC for our small entertaining concert. Well hunny, you gotta dream big they said.

Ahhh I miss the old times spent with them. I pray that this bond will last eternally Aamiin.

1/3 of The Sixteen

It almost three years since the day I bid Taiping goodbye and since then, my classmates have always been trying to gather for a reunion. This time around (which took us three years after we sat for SPM), we determined to make it happen. I would say that it was  Aliah's effort to private message each one of us while at the same time we were discussing in our class group. I also helped, 0.1% of the whole plan by surveying homestay which at last we ended up not there HAHAHA We just wanted to cut the budget and at the same time, there was last minute pull out due to inevitable circumstances. But that is okay'cause we are going to do this every year #sotheycantbeabsentnextyear

The previous weekend was probably one of the best parts of this semester's holiday. It started on Friday evening when I picked up Wani (who got lost in the building to find ATM machine) at TBS and Maryam who reached my house at 2am while Wani and I were still up, laughing, reminiscing the great old school memories.

The next morning was the highlight of the weekend, the gathering! So, out of 24 people of class 16, there were the 8 of us; 6 girls and 2 boys; Ai, Aliah, Amirah, Maryam, Wani, Uzair, Luqman Asri and I.

8 people???

Like seriously, a class gathering of 8 people???

I know, that is like 1/3 of the class (look guys I am still good at fraction) but I personally think that it was a great achievement 'cause majority of my classmates are from the north but they tried their best to make it to this little meet up held in KL  #sistouching. Also, those who could not make it also tried their best to attend but what to do when the time clashed with their personal business that they had to attend #stillsistouching

We had brunch in Seoul Garden, Paradigm Mall and performed our zohor prayer before we off to One Utama to play bowling. After bowling, we had bingsu for evening dessert. Time was absolutely well-spent as we had a very very nice catch-up. My heart felt so warm to be sitting in round, looking at my friends' faces and I hope this friendship will stay as it is for a long long time. (Aamiin)

After some time, we were tired of the boys already  (BAHAHA I bet they were the one who got tired of us), so we sent Uzair and Luqman Asri to KL Sentral before we headed to Kepong, where Aliah is staying. On our way, we stopped by Mydin to buy groceries 'cause we were going to have a picnic on the next day. That night, we had dinner at a Thai restaurant and planned to go for a karaoke. Luck was not on our side (or more likely that Allah wanted us to have a rest #veryoptimistic), most of the karaoke centers were attached to pub and bar so we had no choice except to go home which actually a good idea 'cause most of us were actually very tired and sleepy. In the car on our way home, we scrolled the windows down and sang a lot of random malay indonesian songs wholeheartedly. We sang so well especially a song by Armada, Asal Kau Bahagia. I think it is time for us to quit whatever we are doing now and debut ourselves as a girl band #brilliantidea #theonlywaywecansticktogetherasagroup

I slept next to Ai and Amirah that night very comfortably ♥

The next morning, we woke up for subuh but did not go back to sleep, instead we cooked for breakfast (ehem yes we did. pm for my phone number). We divided tasks; some of us cooked the bee hoon, some prepared sandwiches, and some fried the meatball. That breezy morning, we managed to have a girl talk which later led to the lat tali tamplon game to decide who will shower first. We got ready and off to the south. We stopped by Taman Saujana Hijau for a mini-picnic at one noon (what were we thinking hahaha), prayed at Masjid Besi and had late lunch in Alamanda. Later, we went to TBS and I sent everyone back to their hometown. Told you that they stayed in the north except for Aliah and I. Before I went home, I stopped by at Aliah's house because I freaking left my purse at her house (which means I drove the whole day without a license from Kepong to Putrajaya) #luckilynoroadblock #clumsyasalways #lessonlearnt

Picnic at one noon with a black plastic bag as a mat? NO PROBLEM

Everyone looks sweet but  Aliah kills the mood with her new style #veryretroish #shelistenstosinarfmiguess

Don't frown Maryam. What to do when I am naturally cuter than you #canthelpit #iwasbornthisway

❤ 6/14 girls of class 16  ❤

A photo with our personal photographer, he deserves a picture with us the cool ladies #youarewelcomeLA

I realise that all of us have changed in our own way  (at least a little bit, not necessarily be a big change); we were not exactly the same person who we were used to be in school. That is for sure because life is moving forward and some events do shape us into someone new. Nevertheless of who we are today, the same old beautiful feeling is still there unchanged

I am truly blessed and genuinely happy for this meetup. Words may not be enough to express the emotion I have been having lately. Whenever loneliness strikes, I cannot help it but feel a little bit of emptiness. I wish to spend more time with these people or to start over my upper high-school life all over again with the same buddies I had a wonderful time with.

Thank you, Allah for these awesome people (everyone including those who cannot make it too).

and you are welcome guys, for my presence in your life #iknowyouguysloveme

Till next time!

Special Gift

As I grow older, one thing that comes to my realisation is that I tend to put my family first in everything I do. Or in short, I start to appreciate them more. I try so hard not to hurt my parents' feelings in any way as well as putting effort to understand them better. There is this one quote which I believe we all are familiar with it, 'we are busy growing up and sometimes we forget that our parents are also getting older', I can relate this to another whole new level.

As you all know that I am on my semester break, my time is mostly spent with my family, especially with my mother. Since she is now working as an insurance agent so her working time is very flexible that we always have a talk while cooking in the kitchen or in the car when we are on our way to somewhere.

This time around, we were in the car on our way back home from Subang Jaya to settle some important stuff for Ihsan. We were talking about house and land values, and how some people are able to have several houses or land that they reserve for their children later when they grow up.  I believe that most of their luxurious life comes from their hard work and I aspire to work very very very hard and gain blissfully. Someday in the future, insyaAllah.

Suddenly while we were talking, my mom went like..

"Ibu ayah tak ada harta ataupun tanah nak bagi anak anak ibu. Tak mampu" calmly while her eyes were still focused on the driving.

Danggg, why suddenly she brought this up...

"Tapi ibu sentiasa niatkan Al-Waiqah untuk anak-anak ibu. Moga doa-doa ibu untuk anak-anak ibu dimurahkan rezeki, diperkenankan"

....Oh no, suddenly the atmosphere became emotional. Both of my eyes were already filled with tears and I quickly glimpsed outside the window. That was so unexpected coming from her.

One fact I know about my mother, she reads Quran a lot, everyday without fail. She will wake up around 5am, clean up herself, solat sunat and read the Quran. I always hear her voice reading Al-Waqiah and Ar-Rahman from my room but not even once I had an idea that all the beautiful recitations are meant for us.

I hope my mom knows that nothing in this world, be it in monetary or materials form, could beat the beauty of her prayers that are exclusively dedicated to us.

I hope that I will be able to make Ibu and Ayah proud of me one day, though I know they are, already. And I also hope that one day, I am able to follow my mom's kind traits for my future kids, ewahhh gitu. ((hahaha but seriously I want to raise them up like how my parents are raising me now)

May Allah bless our parents and grant them the highest of jannah insyaAllah.

Dayang Nurrqausar

On a very lazy Thursday evening, my Whatsapp notification popped out on the phone screen and it was from Tadwini. I am not sure if I've ever introduced her before on this blog, but she's one of my very good friends since foundation studies. Our gang is called... ATAN (I know right it sounds so loser lol but there's more elaboration on that (Let's hope that I'll blog about this soon). She had several tickets of Tapestry of Colour, a fund-raising orchestra concert by the Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) students collaborated with outside guests and this time around, the main guest was Dayang Nurfaizah! It was held at Petronas Filharmonik Hall at KLCC, every orchestra's and band's dream to perform here. No one can resist this opportunity so I knew that I cannot miss the chance!

We (I) came late that we missed the first part of the opening show (gosh traffic jammed!) but the three hours show was amazing! I was so impressed with the UTP students, they play instruments so well and it was so extra because they study engineering and soon to be Malaysia's future engineers. Haish so talented. I wish to become one too but the only instrument that I can play is recorder and songs such as Mary had a little lamb and Aku Burung Tiong (Cikgu Asmida is going to be so proud reading this). I also am going to attach here, Dayang's Lelaki Teragung, you are going to be really amazed!

Hugs and big thank you to Tadwini for actually asking me out for the concert. It was also nice to meet Miera, Tadwini's school friend who also joined us that beautiful evening.

Below, Dayang's magical voice and above, our glowing face helped by the evening sunshine.

I wish I have a great voice too so that later I can be a part-time lawyer and the remaining hours to be spent as a singer and you can call me, Dayang Qausar or Rizq Nurfaizah.

The root cause of my constant battle

Remember my last post about my constant battle? I was looking for an answer to my wonder. Then I randomly had a girls' day out with these two yesterday.

So I bet you guys know about the Fish Manhattan Market July Promotion, RM 8+ for an ala-carte plate of dory / salmon belly and etc (I cannot remember the rest of fishes). I went out to have lunch in NuSentral with Aliah for the first time after she is back in Malaysia. If you are my close friends or a reader of this blog, by now you are familiar with ajumma Aliah. Suddenly, our friend, Ai (she lives in Kedah) beeped us in the class whatsapp group, asked if anyone was free to hang out with. It was so coincidence that Ali and I were also together. So, we invited Ai to join us and half an hour later, Ai arrived. We did nothing much, just walked around NuSentral and had an evening drink at Starbucks.

At Starbucks, we talked a lot; about school, our studies, family, struggles and the most beautiful thing about it is that, everything that we discussed brought us to faith discussion... I am (yes until today) feeling emotional and I finally figure out the root cause of my constant inner battles within myself.

It is because I miss school. I miss my girl classmates the most.

I diagnose myself having taipingsick.

Wait, I'll be back with a post on my high school life

Rambling about: my right foot

Tomorrow, 19.12.2022, is my first day of work as a corporate in house counsel.  It feels pretty surreal. Nerve-wrecking too. I've been i...
